All Dr’s with with illnesses, just what part of the patients time spents being diagnosed, treated or after care is where they are seen. I think GP’s deal with the most number of different illnesses, I have a lot of respect for the GP’s who send biopsies our way.
I resume you mean a medical doctor who would work with illnesses rather than a scientist who has done a PhD and so puts Dr in front of their name.
I have a great deal of respect for doctors who work with children who have really bad illnesses that they may not recover from – it’s hard to see someont who has only just started their life being in so much pain and enduring so much suffering – and they have to work with it every day. I couldn’t do that I’d be in bits.
Doctors who work in hospitals are usually called specialists. When a doctor has worked long enough and gained enough experience they are called Consultants. Different types of Consultants work with different types of disease. A Consultant Neurologist works with people who have something wrong with their brain, Cardiologists work with heart patients etc. There is a specialist consultant for every part of your body that goes wrong….and they all think that they are the best type of doctor!!
