Well if you were found that day, we would go on rectal body temperature. if you hade been there a while we would look at other factors, blood pooling, muscles, insects, decay and other such nasty things that happen in dead flesh.
It depends how long it was until someone found you. In bodies that have been dead for a while, scientists start to look at the flies and maggots that have begun to eat the flesh to give them an idea of how long the body has been there. They also look at where the body was found – in icy conditions, like up mountains bodies are quite well preserved, but in hot damp places they start to decompose pretty quickly. In really really old bodies, like Egyptian mummies – they can use carbon dating.
I think this one’s been answered really well by Bob and Sallie already! Often it’s an estimate based on where your body is, what the weather’s like and how decomposed your body is. Happily I suspect you’re not going to die tomorrow 🙂
