I was given an exceptional science award when I worked at GlaxoSmithKline for setting a up a new cell model to copy a possible way pain is triggered in the spinal cord.
Most scientists would rate their success as the number of publications they have had in good journals (that’s where we write up our experiments and results in special magazines so other scientists can read them). I have been lucky to be an author on a couple of Nature publications.

3 – These were earlier on in my career. Scientists often present their work at conferences and there is often a prize for the best presentation or study, so in my work there are regular oppertunities to win prizes right from the beginning of your career.
