The Koran was written in the early 7th century so it is nearly 1,300 years old. We were able to finally see living cells in the 17th century when microscopes were developed enough to allow us to see such tiny things, but many ancient texts speculated that this might be the case, centuries beforehand. Even nowadays, scientists have many ideas that they can’t prove or disprove until the right tehnology comes long.

Well, it certainly means that section of the book is true! I’d be interested to know where the word “cell” came from, and how it translates to/from Arabic. If it means something like a small particle, or unit, then it would have definitely been a reasonable theory at the time of writing, as lots of things in the world are clearly made of smaller and smaller units. Another interesting theory coming from the Qu’ran is halal food, part of which includes not eating pigs as they’re “dirty”. At the time of its writing, lots of people did indeed catch infections and die from pigs, so even though they didn’t know of the existance of viruses, it was a brilliant public health strategy! P.S. As a vegetarian, technically everything I eat is halal 🙂

Its interesting how people often had ideas about how our bodies worked even though they couldn’t proof it back then, isn’t it?

All world religons have passages on creation. they all cannot be right. While Faith can answer questions that science cannot. Many holy stories have touched on the creation of man kind. But we do know what we have been evolving long before we were able to write. I cannot say that God does not exist, no one can, but I also cannot prove God does exist. Faith is personal, faith is what you chose to take from it. Science if fact, proven but it cannot answer everything. The Ancent Greek Scientists themselves knew we were more than the sum of our whole; Hippocrates wrote medical works as early as 500BCE more than 2 and a half thousand years ago, quite a lot of what he said has been proven to be correct.
