The development of a new drug does involve testing the drugs on animals to proof that they are safe, that they work and also to work out the dose (the amount) you need to take. There’s loads of work done first before anything goes near an animal. It’s not something we do ourselves (as we are only a small company) so we get experts to do it for us when it’s needed. It’s a common misconception what type of animals are used. Its mostly (about 90%) rats and mice. You should check out Understanding Animals Research web site if you want more details. http://www.understandinganimalresearch.org.uk
