• Question: are some parts of the brain more vunrable to damage and diseases then others and if they are , why?

      Yes – absolutely! There is part of the brain called the hippocampus – you have 2 – one on the right and one on the left – they start to die very quickly if the brain is starved of oxygen and once they are damaged people have real problems with their memory. The other part of the brain that often gets damaged is the bit at the front – the frontal lobes are behind your forehead – when people bang their head they often hit the front – particurly if they fall. Interms of diseases – again some diseases also seem to damage some parts of the brain more than others – measles can damage the parts of the brain that help you see and hear and encephalitis can attack the hippocampi.
